New patient consultations and followup visits are now available using the device of your choice. With any internet-enabled phone, tablet or computer you can complete a visit with Dr. Snow and his dietitian.

If you are interested in having bariatric surgery, you can have an initial consultation and complete pre-surgical requirements from the comfort of your own home.

If you’ve already undergone your procedure with St. Louis Bariatrics, complete your follow up without the need to come into the office.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bariatric Telemedicine

Why should I schedule a virtual bariatric appointment?

In March, 2020, the city of St. Louis along with St. Louis and Jefferson Counties issued Stay at Home orders to protect public health during the COVID-19 pandemic. For your safety along with that of our staff and those in the community, we are expanding our telemedicine program. This service will allow us to provide ongoing care while doing our part to minimize your exposure to the coronavirus.

What kind of appointments can I have virtually?

Services that are available via virtual visit include:

• New patient consultations
• Post-surgical follow-up appointments
• Dietary support for existing patients
• Insurance required preoperative diet visits

Will my insurance cover a telemedicine visit?

Most insurance companies are covering telemedicine visits, even if they didn’t have coverage prior to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Do I need a computer with a camera for the telemedicine visit?

You do need a camera, but it doesn’t have to be on a computer. Patients also use cell phones and tablets for their telemedicine visits.

What program will I use for my virtual visit?

Your health information and privacy are our top priority. Prior to your appointment, we will have you download a secure app. The app will not require you to create an account and once your visit is completed, you have the option to delete it.

Can I start the bariatric surgery process as a new patient with telemedicine?

Yes! Many people have more time to devote to self-care right now, and it can be a great time to start the bariatric process in order to jumpstart a healthier and more active future. You can begin the process with a virtual consultation with Dr. Snow. There you will have the opportunity to ask questions about bariatric surgery and educate yourself about which weight loss procedure is right for you. After the appointment, your primary care provider will receive a copy of your bariatric consultation for review. Our team will submit information to your insurance company as soon as possible. If your insurance policy requires preoperative dietary visits, our dietitian can complete them virtually. In essence, we will continue to move towards scheduling your procedure even as things are postponed from the coronavirus outbreak.

If I do my bariatric consultation via telemedicine will I meet the doctor prior to surgery?

Yes, although he will perform your initial consultation via telemedicine, you will meet Dr. Snow in office prior to your procedure.
