Meet Jay Michael Snow, MD, FASMBS

Jay Michael Snow, MD, FACS, FASMBS is a highly experienced, board-certified bariatric and general surgeon known for his exceptional surgical skills, compassionate bedside manner, and patient-centered approach. With more than 15 years of experience and over 11,000 lives changed, Dr. Snow is recognized as a trusted leader in weight loss and general surgery.

Dr. Snow specializes in minimally invasive laparoscopic bariatric surgery, offering patients shorter recovery times, fewer complications, and lasting results. His expertise includes gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, bariatric revision surgery, and gastric band removal, as well as advanced treatment for obesity-related conditions. Bariatric surgery under Dr. Snow’s care has helped patients improve or resolve acid reflux, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea.

In addition to bariatric procedures, Dr. Snow is highly skilled in general surgery, including gallbladder surgery, hernia repair, EGD, colonoscopy, and other minimally invasive surgical treatments. His broad surgical background allows him to provide comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of conditions.

At St. Louis Bariatrics, Dr. Snow leads a full spectrum of weight loss options, including a Medical Weight Loss program for patients who may not qualify for or prefer alternatives to surgery. This program provides customized, non-surgical solutions to support long-term weight management and improved health.

As a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS), Dr. Snow combines technical excellence with a patient-first philosophy. Fluent in English and Spanish, he is committed to making every patient’s journey safe, successful, and supported.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Snow is an avid outdoorsman with a special passion for waterfowl hunting. He is a proud member of St. Justin the Martyr Catholic Church and a dedicated fan of University of Missouri athletics, the St. Louis Cardinals, the St. Louis City SC, and the St. Louis Blues. Above all, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Colleen, and their four sons.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Fitness from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
  • Medical Degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia
  • Completed his general surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma
  • Completed a fellowship in Bariatric Surgery at the Minnesota Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery, which is the only fellowship in the country to be triple accredited in Minimally Invasive Surgery, Bariatrics, and Flexible Endosurgery.
  • Bariatric Medical Director at Mercy Hospital Jefferson
  • Dr. Snow has given multiple presentations at Society meetings and has been published in peer-reviewed medical literature.
